The International Qur’anic Studies Association (IQSA) is the first learned society dedicated to the study of the Qur’an. I am proud to have been involved in IQSA since its inception, from the early conversations about forming the society in 2012–2013, to the first IQSA-branded panels and conferences in 2013 and 2014, to today.
From 2013 to 2017 I was the inaugural Chair of the Publications and Research Committee, as well as serving as the founding editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of the International Qur’anic Studies Association. From 2013 to 2016 I served on the Programming Committee for the IQSA Annual Meeting as well.
I founded the Qur’an and Late Antiquity program unit of the IQSA Annual Meeting (held concurrently with the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature Annual Meetings) and co-chaired the program unit from 2014 to 2021.
In addition to overseeing numerous panels formed from proposals submitted in response to the IQSA open call for papers, I have organized numerous special panels under the auspices of IQSA over the years, including the following:
